Fastback Books, and Amazon Upgrade

• So yesterday I came across a really cool site for making your own photo books called Fastback Creative Books. They do custom-designed books in quantities as few as one book. Prices start as low as $45 for a small hardcover book and go up depending on numerous extras you can designate. These aren’t little cheapo books either. They do professional binding, covers, dust jackets, all the good stuff. I haven’t tried them out yet, but they’re on my short list. Here’s the link.

 • Speaking of books, did you know that Amazon has a feature to host your purchased books online for you? This means you can have access to the same books you own at home, anywhere you have an internet connection. I guess this has been out for awhile now, (a long while), but after buying a book today I was offered the option and this is the first I’d heard of it. Called Amazon Upgrade, you pay a few extra dollars and Amazon gives you access to your book right on the spot. If you’re incredibly impatient you can begin reading your book as soon as you’ve ordered it! It’s not available for all books though, so if your purchase isn’t offered you’re out of luck.

And no, I’m not talking about Amazon’s search inside feature. That lets you see a few pages of the book. This is the entire book with the ability to make notations, set bookmarks and more.

Here’s a link to the Amazon press release.

That’s it for links today. Stay tuned for news from the rest of the Old Hat crew as they return from their 3-day vacation, business meeting.
